![]() The muffins were tasty, but everything else was just so/so. Breakfast sandwiches are available at the front desk for $3.00/ea. (As of July 5, 2021) The Breakfast: Continental breakfast was served each morning from 6:00-10:00a and consisted of bagels, muffins, boxed cereal, limited fresh fruit, coffee (New England's Best), packaged hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, milk, and granola/snack bars. The Pool: Closed during the pandemic and not yet back up and functional. A small and functional fitness center overall! TV present if you're someone who likes to use it. The front desk was able to take our reservations, but either they didn't write it down for all to see or didn't impress upon other guests that it was reservation only as every morning we got interrupted. During our stay, the fitness center was by reservation only (1-hour blocks). I didn't come expecting the latter and now neither should you! The Fitness Center: Fitness center is comprised of a treadmill, an elliptical, a recumbent bicycle, a dumbell rack, 2x yoga mats, and a full mirror wall. Towels are soft and absorbent, but not plush and luxurious. Unlike other hotels I have stayed in recently, no signs of peeling wallpaper, mold, or cut-rate repair jobs. Shower head had two or three settings and hot water was available quickly. The shower itself was a bit awkwardly designed as you can't avoid the spray of cold water during the first fire-up, but the toiletries in said shower were nicer smelling and gentler on the skin than others used in other hotels. Don't get it wrong- I've showered in places with plenty of creepy crawlies and haven't batted an eye (Vietnam, looking at you), but showering is the most relaxing part of my day so at a hotel I expect my bathing quarters to be nothing short of satisfactory! Our bathroom was spotless and I really REALLY liked the dark wood and natural wood used in the bathroom furniture. Just know if you're used to a medium-firm or firm, this is not it! The Bathroom: Laugh if you will, but I am borderline OBSESSIVE about a decent bathroom in a hotel. The bed was entirely too soft for my wife and I which resulted in some less-than-restful sleep, but bed firmness is a personal preference. No stationery in the writing desk, but paper was available at the front desk. We had a single king bed and all the standard amenities: refrigerator, coffee maker, ice bucket, hair dryer, hangers. Here's what we thought (No patience? Skip to the end!): The Room: Our room on the 1st floor was clean, odor-free, and tastefully furnished. After filling out a few forms, we were checked in and into our room. The young lady at the desk was engaged on the phone and acknowledged us, but didn't rush the conversation (a reservation) on the phone. As we came out of the roundabout and onto the property, the manicured property was immediately welcoming to these two weary out-of-towners. Our stay at The Garrison was very good from reservation to checkout.
